The Synthesis and Structure of Palladium 2,4-dimethyl-8-hydroselenoquinolinate

2014

The internal complex palladium 2,4-dimethyl-8- hydroselenoquinolinate Pd[C9H4(CH3)2NSe]2 (I) has been synthesized in the course of study of the complexing activity of 8- hydroselenoquinoline and investigation of the nature of chemical bond metal-selenium in the five-membered metal-containing ring. X-ray diffraction data for I: Monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 9.0092(4), b = 16.3290(7), c = 14.1073(6) A,  = 106.710(2)o, V = 1987.7(2) A3, Z = 4, R1=0.0477, wR2=0.1182 for 4499 reflections (diffractometer Bruker-Nonius KappaCCD, MoK). The crystal structure of the complex I is formed by neutral asymmetric molecules Pd[C9H4(CH3)2NSe]2 in which the central atom palladium is connected bidentic…

Crystal structure of the tetraaquabis(thiocyanato-kappa N)cobalt(II)-caffeine-water (1/2/4) co-crystal

2017

In the structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(H2O)4]·2C8H10N4O2·4H2O, the cobalt metal lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal, the complex molecules interact with the caffeine molecules through O—H⋯N, O—H⋯O, C–H⋯S hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions.

Electrodeposition of supported gadolinium-doped ceria solid solution nanowires

2012

Gadolinium-ceria solid solution nanowires with tunable composition have been prepared through template cathodic electrodeposition from solutions containing Ce 3+Gd 3+ in a variable ratio. The employed template is Porous Anodic Alumina because it can function as thermal resistant separator supporting the nanowires if used as ionic conductor in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). Scanning Electron Microscopy of the deposited nanostructures revealed that the use of ethanol as solvent and metal chloride as electrolyte allowed to prepare continuous, compact and well defined nanowires with morphological features stable even after thermal treatment. EDX compositional analysis confirms the presence of bo…

Marble and stone revetment and pavements: Context and provenance

2022

Earlier excavations and survey at Vagnari furnished hardly any evidence for the use of marble at the site, and so the vicus was considered to be a low status settlement, with only a few rooms having been elegant enough to decorate them with marble floors or revetment. The fragments recovered were not analysed scientifically to determine the location of the quarries from which the marbles came. Of particular interest, however, were two small fragments of inscriptions on white marble retrieved from the rubble fill dumped in the 4th century AD in the reservoir. These originally may have been attached, when intact, to votive or funerary monuments, suggesting that the occasional commemorative mo…
